What is Food Explosion? FoodExplosion.com is the creation of Mark and Lara. We are husband and wife and best friends. Over the past 10 years we traveled the world, started a family and shared hundreds meals with friends. We cherish the social nature of eating and the joy food and human interaction brings to our lives. We decided to create Food Explosion and mobile app fBomb after searching for a fun and simple web tool. We did not find what we were looking for so we funded and created Food Explosion. Please enjoy the site as much as you love to eat! Food Explosion is a social network website designed to share the food you love with others. The site serves everyone, hence the slogan: For People Who Eat. All types and categories are welcome; from fast food to fine dining. You can enter an unlimited number of recommendations for foods you love. There are 24 Icons in your profile that suggest categories to share with others. There is also a Profile Photo Icon and Fine Dining Icon that represent broad categories (see below). Primarily restaurants are listed but there is also a place to enter food from Markets, Recipes, etc. Enjoy the site and encourage family, friends and co-workers to join your network so that over time, anywhere you visit you will have a useful web resource to view recommendations and share the food you love. What type of foods can be listed? 24 Food Icons represent some of the most popular foods we eat. All types of foods are welcome. Share what is meaningful for you and what you recommend for others. We also strongly encourage trying new foods and restaurants so you then can share those experiences with others. We encourage creating dining events and provide a section of the site to share photos and notes (see “Dive Bomb”) Who should use Food Explosion? All people who eat are encouraged to utilize the website and all food experiences are welcome. Why is there not a rating system? Food Explosion intentionally focuses on the positive, social nature of food. We are a reference site of favorable recommendations. In staying positive in recommendations we serve a dual purpose: (1) establish that if foods are listed on Food Explosion, the global user community knows the experience is a good one and (2) restaurants can view feedback from their patrons to understand what is preferred and work to better serve their customers. We believe there is enough negativity and criticism in the world, Food Explosion’s mission is to share and recommend the joyful, social nature of food. How do I invite friends to join Food Explosion? We strongly encourage you to invite others to join Food Explosion. The greater the participation, the greater the experience will be for all users. You can email people from within Food Explosion, direct people to our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter and very soon obtain the iPhone and Blackberry application, fBomb. Your voice is powerful to us, so additionally, send us your feedback at contact@foodexplosion.com. What is the purpose of the Poll? The Poll is simple device to share your opinion on playful topics. It is not scientific but allows users to see what others prefer. We will update the poll regularly and welcome future polling suggestions (contact@foodexplosion.com). Included in the poll results is a “wiki” with anecdotes and silly facts about some of the most popular foods that we love. What is the purpose of the icons? There are 24 food icons that serve as a general guide to our users. As you create an entry for a food type, the icon will illuminate within your profile. There are two icons that cover a broad category of foods: My Food and Fine Dining. “My Food” allows you to enter specific foods you prefer that are not included in the other 23 icons. For example, I love Indian food and it is not a category icon, so I enter my recommendation here. Another example we encourage is sharing recipes and this is the place to enter a personal recipe you want to share. “Fine Dining” is a broad category that you can help define. We are also working to include a reservation link under the Fine Dining category. What if my food type is not listed? If an icon does not represent the food type you would like to recommend, create an entry under the “Profile” or “Fine Dining” icon. As we grow, we will add icons as they are needed and requested from the user community. Your feedback is welcome and encouraged at contact@foodexplosion.com. How do I create a recommendation? Once you become a member, sign in and under your profile in the recommendations section, select “create recommendation.” Fill in all the required fields (also add a logo as an option) and press submit. How do I add friends to my table? Send invitations within Food Explosion or by logging in to Food Explosion through Facebook Connect. What is a Dive Bomb? Dive Bombs are events organized by the user community designed to build support and share food with others. We advise users to notify a restaurant prior to arrival, explain the intent of the event, and take photos of the event to post on Food Explosion to share with the world. Optimal size of a Dive Bomb is 8-20 people. We will work to provide a Dive Bomb certificate for both you and the restaurant to commemorate the event. Have a blast! How can I advertise on the site?
